I am one of the members of the board of directors of the Television Archive, so let me address this issue.

Alas, there is nothing devious in our actions, our actions come from being underfunded for access. Something we hoped to have changed, but it has not come through yet.

A few details-- The Television Archive funded the building of a website presented on October 11, 2001 of TV news boardcasts from around the world from Sept 11 - Sept 18th 2001. The idea was to show some of the reactions from around the world. These programs were available for about 2 years, if I recall.

The website used technology from a company that was contacted to do the work and then when the website was separated from that company's hosting it all came crumbling down (lesson-- open source technology would have helped a great deal).

The Internet Archive would like to help with TVarchive with this project and has spent the last year getting out from underneath using a database and should now be ready to help.

If there are volunteers that would like to help the Internet Archive and Television Archive on this, please let us know. Skills needed:
* web design
* xslt programming (actually real programming, we do alot with it)
* linux adminy stuff.

Ideally, folks with 20 hours/week to spare for a month or so would do the trick.

Anybody up for it?

Hi brewster. I was a big fan of televisionarchive and have the skills you mention. I'm interested in this but there are some issues we would need to discuss via email. Please contact me:

I'm glad to hear that the Television archive of 9/11 is comming back online! I've waited so long... I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do, I don't have those skills you are looking for..
Also: when can we expect the archive to be back online, with the broadcast from all over the world?

Thank you!

Almost a year out and still no update? Surely there had to be some takers on getting this back online!
